"incredibly impressive"- Campbell Mattinson
Long considered one of the shining lights of the Margaret River wine region, the overall quality of wine produced at Leeuwin Estate is at a seemingly all-time high. The wines under Leeuwin's Prelude range continue to impress; delivering wonderful value examples of the region's hero varietals.
The 2020 Leeuwin Estate Prelude Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautifully approachable, elegant style of Margaret River Cabernet. Fragrant and pretty on the nose, the palate has layers of blackcurrant, blueberries and cherry, subtle oak and lively thread of fresh acid throughout. Balanced and poised, this is a sensational Cabernet for the short to medium term.
"93+ Points. This is an incredibly impressive Prelude cabernet. Look at the price, look at the quality: if Margaret River cabernet is your thing, get on board. First and foremost it’s a structured red wine, which is exactly as it should be. It tastes of blackcurrant, bay leaves, gravel, choc and mint, with some leafy herb/tobacco notes around about too. It doesn’t quite have the mid-palate concentration or presence for really high points but it comes ultra close, and it promises to drink beautifully both now and in the future. Buy. Tasted: Mar23 13.5% alc. $32 Screwcap Drink : 2024 - 2031+"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
