95 Points | " Such a beautiful wine" - Mike Bennie
Located approximately 30 minutes north of Canberra in the small rural town of Murrumbateman, Clonakilla is one of the great success stories of Australian wine and home to some of the most impressive red wines made anywhere in the country.
After enduring a horror 2020 vintage, where Clonakilla didn't produce any wines from their Canberra home, the newly released 2021 Clonakilla O'Riada Shiraz has been highly anticipated - and rightfully so.
Offering elegant floral aromas, red berries and spice this is a red wine of depth, intense flavours and impeccable balance. A wine that has already gained an enormous following, this could well be one of the best O'Riada Shiraz release yet.
"95 Points. O’Riada was always the one ‘we’ missed at the Canberra Regional Wine Show, in my tenure there. Savoury, firm tannin, charming rusticity, a distinct style. This one hits the mark too. So savoury, but fresh too, and all that hazelnut and clove seems very fruit derived, with layers of spice, game meat and faint herbal inflection. Texture is bright, crisp almost but for the slinky, roughed up but silky tannins. Succulence to finish, a kiss of ripe fruit and the spice trails long away. Such a beautiful wine. Wow stuff.
