As the site of the first grape plantings in Western Australia's Great Southern region, Forest Hill is one of the pioneers of cool-climate winemaking in WA. Forest Hill's collection of Estate wines are always impressive and deliver remarkable value drinking.
The 2022 Forest Hill Vineyard Estate Chardonnay opens with aromas of citrus peel, nectarine and toasted nuts. The palate is elegant with flavours of grapefruit and white stonefruit. Textured and complex, the wines natural acidity ensures and clean, lingering finish.
"91 Points. Wild fermented and sees 20% new oak. Quite a sweet perfume led by candied citrus, lime cordial, apricot and cinnamon spice. The palate is chewy with spice and offers vibrant, juicy lime and apple characters, a more tart affair to taste with a zesty, dry finish. It feels a little out of balance at present, a bit all arms and legs, but the quality of oak and amplitude of fruit bode well for a bright future. $34. 13% alc. Screwcap. Drink: 2025 - 2033."- Mike Bennie, winecompanion.com.au.
