Tim Smith is an incredibly talented winemaker and one of Australia's most awarded. Focused on making wines from the Barossa's time proven varietals (Mataro, Grenache and Shiraz), he consistently delivers benchmark Barossa red wines.
Tim Smith Bugalugs Grenache has established itself as one of Australia's best value examples of Grenache and the 2021 vintage again delivers a delicious, approachable red wine upon release. Medium-bodied with plenty of vibrancy and juicy red currants, plum, spice and soft tannins, this is a Barossa Grenache of wide appeal.
"Red wines from 2021 already! Old vine Grenache with no new oak, and 7% Mataro in older oak. Bright and floral, but meaty too, boysenberry and raspberry, with a saline feel. Shows a tickle of spritz, meaty flavours in with plump purple fruit, maybe some dried herb, tannin a little dry and scratchy. Solid finish. Almost like a young Beaujolais in a way. It’s a little unresolved as a now, and should be more settled by next year. 90+ Points Tasted: Aug21 14.5% alc. $28 Screwcap Drink: 2022 - 2027"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
