Based near the small village of Moonambel in the heart of the Pyrenees region of Western Victoria, Dalwhinnie has been growing grapes for nearly 50 years. Now a fully mature vineyard, Dalwhinnie continues to produce a stunning array of wines that are distinctive, elegant and reflect the benefit of a dry-grown vineyard.
Here Dalwhinnie turn their attention to Tasmania for their 'Three Valleys' Pinot Noir. This is produced from three exceptional sites, being the 'Three Valleys' of Huon Valley, Lower Derwent Valley and Coal River Valley. Each parcel of fruit was then fermented and matured separately in large format French oak for ten months prior to blending and bottling, with minimal intervention.
"94 Points. Pinot noir from three plots in the Huon Valley, Lower Derwent Valley and Coal River Valley fermented and matured in French oak separately before blending and bottling. It sports a bright aromatic profile of red cherry, redcurrant jelly and raspberry coulis with hints of blood orange, exotic spice, shiitake broth, rhubarb, sous bois, dried cranberries and smoked meats. Spiced sour morello cherries and fine tannins feature as the wine departs with a graceful air. Drink: 2023 - 2030. 14% alc. Screwcap"- Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion.
"Deep garnet with a crimson hue and aromas of red berries, blood orange and dark cherry, this is a wine of intriguing complexity and charm. Brightly fruited on the front palate, the core of this delicious wine shows concentrated plum, cranberry and sweet bergamot flavours, woven together with mineral acidity and fine, powdered tannins". - Julian Langworthy, Dalwhinnie.
