We've been big fans of Teusner Wines over the past two decades, with Kym Teusner and his team continuing to craft some of the most impressive old-vine Barossa red wines. Teusner's Joshua is an un-oaked version of the classic Barossa blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro.
Joshua's vibrancy and purity of fruit have won this wine many fans over the past decade and the 2023 Teusner Joshua is again in great form. A perfect combination of this great Barossa varietals, with lifted spice and red fruits from the Grenache, earth and savouriness from the Mataro and a dash of power and palate weight being delivered by the Shiraz.
"94 Points. An unoaked red blend of 56/37/7% grenache/mataro/shiraz that always hits the button for me, bringing back memories of trips to the Barossa and how I was drawn to this easy-drinking style in the early 2000s. Plums, mulberries, charcuterie, spice, dried citrus rind, pressed flowers, crushed stone and earth. Harmonious and savoury, it's just lovely drinking. 14.5% Alc, Drink 2024-2034"- Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
"Kym Teusner has been crafting quintessential Barossa reds for a couple of decades now and this latest release of Joshua is bang on again. This wine hasn’t seen a lick of oak, just characterful grenache, mataro and shiraz from the Barossa sub-regions of Ebenezer, Williamstown, Seppeltsfield and Tanunda. Colour is youthful and bright in the glass. Aromas of blueberry, cherry, cedar, bramble, dried flowers and spice. There’s lovely lift and purity here. Vibrant and juicy in flavour, with lashings of fleshy blue fruits, sweet spice, nutty oak and a woodsy earthiness. The tannins are shapely, drying and firm and deliver structure and presence. A lovely wine. Screwcap. 93 Points. 14.5% alc."- Aaron Brasher, The Real Review.
