95 Points - Jane Faulkner
Established in 1850 by English migrant Frank Potts, Bleasdale remains one of Australia's most loved and acclaimed wineries. This founding Langhorne Creek winery continues to draw high acclaim, including being named 'Winery Of The Year' in the 2024 Halliday Wine Companion.
This 2023 Bleasdale Second Innings Malbec is another delicious red offering plenty of vibrant primary fruit flavours of plums, red berries and pepper spice. A plush, juicy red with velvety smooth tannins, this offers super value drinking at this price.
"95 Points. Malbec this good at this price, really, it doesn’t get any better. Although if Bleasdale doesn’t do great malbec, then no one does. At first, it appears all upfront fruit - black and satsuma plums, blackcurrants - but then savoury notes come through all spiced to the max with pepper, sumac and licorice, some roasted red capsicum, too. There are plentiful tannins, ripe and stretchy across the fuller-bodied palate, and it finishes convincingly. Distinctively and pleasingly varietal as much as an imprint of place and producer. $22. 13.5% alc. Drink: 2025 - 2033. Screwcap"- Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2026.
