Based out of the renowned Rayner vineyard in McLaren Vale, Bondar wines has made a big impression on the Australian wine scene. Established by husband and wife duo, Andre Bondar and Selina Kelly in 2012, their commitment to crafting exceptional wines has been widely lauded, including being named James Halliday's 'Best New Winery' back in 2017.
This 2024 Bondar Grenache Rose is a pale, dry rosé produced from Grenache and a small amount of Cinsault and Matar, most of which is grown in Bondar's home in McLaren Vale. Aromatic, fresh, with loads of delicate fruit flavours and a long dry finish, this is a top-line Australian Rosé that is able to be enjoyed any time of the year.
"96 Points. 92/5/3% grenache/cinsault/mataro. Younger vine estate material from a grower in Blewitt Springs raised in tank makes up most of the grenache component, with a little '70-planted Rayner vineyard fruit seeing old oak. A shimmering rose gold in hue, this continues the impeccable lineage of this wine, with flavours of cranberry, watermelon, tart redcurrant, subtle pink grapefruit and musk. As always, those flavours are suggestive, melding into each other, eschewing obviousness for refinement and effortless class. This is properly dry, with a gentle tug of savoury grip, set against a core of succulent fruit purity and finely tuned texture. Superb. 12.5% alc. Drink: 2024 - 2027.
