The Balnaves Coonawarra Vineyard was established in 1975 and is situated at the southern end of the Coonawarra Terra Rossa strip. The family, which has been associated with the district since 1855, remains fully committed to a high level of ‘hands-on’ involvement.
Balnaves 'The Blend' consistently delivering superb value red wine drinking; the 2019 vintage is made up of Coonawarra Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Delivering loads of flavour, depth and impeccable balance, this offers super value at this price.
"93 Points. 49/ 38/ 7.5/ 5.5% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc/petit verdot. Matured for 14 months in French oak (21% new). The 2019 Cabernet Merlot wasn't made, meaning the best parcels of merlot usually reserved for that cuvée have flowed into this wine. Petit verdot and cabernet franc contribute a heady perfume to the bouquet; on the palate the wine has concentrated black fruits and spice. The shapely tannins through the finish are a highlight. I'd go so far as to posit that this is currently one of the best $20 cabernet blends on the market. 14.5% alc. $20. Screwcap"- Erin Larkin, winecompanion.com.au.
