Blackjack has long been one of our favourite examples of this popular Cabernet Merlot blend and this 2017 Blackjack Cabernet Merlot is another cracking example. Blackberry and red currant fruit aromas are offered on the nose, with some subtle mint and mixed herbs. The mid weighted palate, is approachable, refined and elegant, with lovely dark fruit flavours; plum and blackcurrant supported but some fine, firm tannins.
"Blackjack routinely makes a good fist of this blend. Berried flavour leaps from the glass, anise and dried herb notes following swiftly thereafter. It’s solid with flavour but it remains svelte; in ripeness/boldness terms it feels and tastes more than its stated 13% alcohol. In short, you can’t really go wrong here.
