96 Points - Ray Jordan
Hay Shed Hill's Block 2 Cabernet Sauvignon consistently delivers a distinguished example of Margaret River Cabernet. Planted in the early 1970's to the famous Houghton clone of Cabernet Sauvignon, these old dry grown vines provide grapes of incredible quality of intensity.
This 2023 Hay Shed Hill Block 2 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the finest release of this wine yet, opening with lovely lifted ripe berry aromas. The palate is ripe and intensely flavoured; fleshy sweet fruit filling the mid palate with great depth driven by the ripe and mature tannin. Another exceptional Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon from Hay Shed Hill, this offers remarkable value given its pedigree and quality.
"96 Points. Comes from some of the oldest cabernet vines in Wilyabrup. You talk about elegance and refinement; well, here it is in spades. Lifted floral perfumes on the nose with distinctive red berry and light tobacco leaf. Just a little of that minerally oyster shell character. The palate is sublime. Tannins are silky and fine, the oak brilliantly understated, and the fruit impeccable. A super classy wine. Cellar: 12 years. $70"- Ray Jordan, rayjordanwine.com.au.
