As a pioneer of Margaret River, Cape Mentelle consistently produce some of the region's finest wines. The maritime climate of Margaret River is increasingly being recognised as ideal for Shiraz and Cape Mentelle's example is regularly a benchmark.
This 2020 Cape Mentelle Shiraz opens with floral and spicy aromas; wild black cherry, violets and lavender with orange marmalade and intense smoked peppercorns. The palate is rich and juicy displaying satsuma plum and ripe black forest berry fruits of mulberry and blackberry, which are supported by fine silky tannins and long, textured finish.
"95 Points. An amazing bright colour for starters, all dark purple shot with black and red. The delight continues across a fuller-bodied palate that's full of dark plums, cloves, turmeric and Sichuan pepper - a bit of excitement here.
