A quality example of the popular Langhorne Creek style of Shiraz, the 2021 Watkins Langhorne Creek Shiraz benefits from cooling maritime sea breezes that allow fruit flavours to mature beautifully. This full-bodied red delivers an exuberant profile bursting with dark plum, juicy blackberry, and blueberry notes, layered with savoury hints of cloves, chocolate, and black pepper. Supported by a mix of oak aging and fine, supple tannins, it offers a plush, velvety finish.
"92 Points. Blackberry, olive tapenade and rosemary stems. A sliver of red cherry and tonka bean. Tobacco, vanilla flecks and porcini mushrooms. Hints of clove and coffee grounds. This shows a deft hand in capturing intensity without over extraction. A cool climate style with the added layering of handy oak and great fruit source. Tannins are sappy and chocolatey in their staying power on the palate. Lingering acidity flows on. It is quintessentially modern and also representative of Langhorne Creek.
