96 Points - James Halliday
Yangarra Estate is a biodynamic wine producer based in South Australia's McLaren Vale region. The Yangarra philosophy centres around producing wines solely from its single-vineyard estate and the property is devoted to the best grape varieties of the southern Rhone.
The 2017 Yangarra McLaren Vale Shiraz was one of our biggest selling red wines of the past 12 months, and we're delighted to have just welcomed the 2018 vintage. A medium to full-bodied rendition of McLaren Vale Shiraz, it offers an impressive core of blueberries, dark fruits, dark chocolate and subtle spice. Ready to be enjoyed now this is likely to only improve with a few years in the cellar. A wine that has attracted a huge following, we expect the 2018 vintage to be hugely popular.
"96 Points. From six estate blocks, 50% on sand, 50% ironstone. Destemmed and mechanically sorted whole berries and 20% whole bunches open-fermented with a splash of viognier, 10 months in French oak (20% new). Dark fruits with earth, chocolate and licorice nuances. Sensational price. 14% alc. $35. To 2038" - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion 2021.
"95 Points. Deep, bright red/purple colour. Fresh and clean on the nose, with berries, cherries and spices to sniff. Really lovely aromas and flavours, understated and still evolving. The palate is fine and long with supple tannins and great harmony. A superb glass of shiraz."- Huon Hooke The Real Review.
