96 Points - James Halliday
The Holm Oak team has been crafting luscious expressions of cool-climate wine for more than a decade and are now recognised as one of Tasmania's leading wineries; their Estate Pinot Noir is always a standout.
This 2021 Holm Oak Pinot Noir has some beautiful spice, strawberry and cherry characters on the nose. The palate has fantastic fruit intensity, vibrant acidity and fine silky tannins - another top class Tasmanian Pinot from the team at Holm Oak.
"96 Points. A magic carpet of seven clones (in separate blocks) were picked between March 20 and April 16. All batches were destemmed and hand in small open fermenters, matured for 10 months in French oak (20% new). The colour is a massive come-on, deep in pinot terms, and the palate duly delivers, spicy tannins running through the black cherry and plum fruit in an even, lingering stream. 13.5% alc, screwcap. Drink to 2036. $38"- James Halliday, The Weekend Australian Magazine, August 6-7, 2022.
