Longview Yakka Shiraz has been a remarkably consistent performer over the past decade and become a favourite for those seeking a high-quality Adelaide Hills Shiraz at a very reasonable price.
The 2022 Longview Yakka Shiraz is another medium-bodied, Adelaide Hills Shiraz displaying vibrant blue fruits flavours, dark chocolate, coffee and a nice touch of subtle oak. A cool-climate Shiraz of impressive balance and length, this again delivers exceptional value for money drinking.
"Yakka definitely sounds like a doing word to me, rather than a noun. Meaty, peppery, hazelnut, cherry and raspberry, quite some perfume too. It’s medium-bodied, nutty and gently chewy, some blood orange character to acidity, with a dry finish featuring dark bitter chocolate. Good wine. Savoury and interesting. 91 Points. Tasted: Nov24. 13.5% alc. $32 Screwcap Drink: 2024 - 2030+"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
"A meaty, spicy, supple red of ripe raspberry fruitiness, clove inflections, touches of bergamot tea and dark chocolate. It's flavoursome, it's heady in perfume, it drives with concentrated fruit characters, and winery seasoning seems well matched to the inherent personality of the wine. It delivers on a promise of shiraz at medium weight and shows some pizzazz. 90 Points. 13.5% alc. Drink: 2024 - 2032. Screwcap"- Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion.
