96 Points - James Halliday
Moss Wood have an internationally recognised reputation for producing some of the finest examples of Cabernet outside of Bordeaux. Designed to be balanced and drinkable as a younger wine, Moss Wood's 2018 Amy's is Cabernet Sauvignon blended with small amounts of Petit Verdot, Malbec and Merlot.
The result is a highly appealing red with generous fruit depth, an abundance of varietal blackcurrant, violets and red fruits, with the subtle oak playing a mere support role. A high-quality red wine from one of Australia's leading wineries, this is a wine of enormous appeal particularly at this price.
"96 Points. Moss Wood’s Bordeaux blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec and petit verdot. Deep but bright crimson-purple foretells what is to come: a rich yet refined medium-bodied wine, oak and tannins present but not the least obvious. Screwcap. 14% alc. To 2038. $43"- James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion 2021.
"94 Points. This is a blend of cabernet sauvignon merlot malbec and petit verdot from the Glenmore Vineyard just north of Yallingup. This a cracker and as good as any under this label. Seamless tannin, and oak integration with some exceptional powerful yet refined fruit."- Ray Jordan, Top 100 Reds, The West Australian.
"94 Points. Given the quality of this, and the Ribbon Vale offerings, you’d have to think the estate Cabernet is going to be pretty fancy in 2018. Cabernet Sauvignon 76%, Merlot 8%, Malbec 8%, Petit Verdot 8% from the Glenmore Vineyard. Red and black berries, chocolate and spice, some dried flowers and mint, and not much in the way of oak influence here. It’s plush and a subtle red jelly flavour (in a good way), dried rose and tobacco. Kind of playful and serious at once. Tannin has light grip and a pleasing grainy character, and the finish is satisfying too. A top release of the wine, I reckon. Tasted: Feb21 14% alc. $43 Screwcap Drink: 2021 - 2028"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.

Planted in 1969 with its first vintage in 1973, Moss Wood is located in the sub-region of Wilyabrup. Selected for the suitability of its soils, aspect and consistent climate, it is one of the finest vineyard sites in Australia.
Keith Mugford, as chief winemaker and co-proprietor, has been making wine and tending the vineyard at Moss Wood since 1979. He was joined in this by his wife Clare, in 1984. They seek and apply proven knowledge and technology to enhance grape and wine quality, constantly driving to be the best. This exacting viticulture and winemaking ensures wines of outstanding quality, distinguished by their consistency over many vintages.
Over time, the success of Moss Wood led the Mugfords to purchase a second property, Ribbon Vale, in 2000. This Wilyabrup, dry grown vineyard, is only 1200 metres from their original estate.
The Moss Wood and Mugford names are synonymous with uncompromising quality; their relentless and constant goal is to produce the perfect fruit and flawless great wine.
