One of Australia's most talented and awarded winemakers, Tim Smith is focused on making benchmark examples of the Barossa's time proven varietals; Shiraz, Mataro and Grenache.
From an exceptional vintage in the Barossa, the 2018 Tim Smith Barossa Shiraz is crafted from carefully sourced grapes from several old vineyards in the Barossa Valley floor including; Tanunda, Seppeltsfield, Nuriootpa, Kalimna and Light Pass.
Aged in French and American oak, this shows lovely regional characters of plum, blackberry, anise and cedar oak. The palate is layered and plush, with well weighted fruit, supported by some lovely tannin leading to a long, clean finish.
"94 Points. Barossa shiraz, traditionally styled, and so very good at it. It’s a seamless release and a powerful one. It’s loaded with dark berried flavour but it’s more than just mid palate; everything pushes impressively through the finish. Milk coffee, graphite, rich plum and peppercorn. Everything sings in tune. Everything nails the brief. Tasted: Dec20 14.5% alc. $42 Screwcap Drink: 2021 - 2030+" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
