Iconic New Zealand Pinot Noir
Ata Rangi of New Zealand's Martinborough region has long been considered as one of the finest 'New World' Pinot Noirs, in fact many regard it as the greatest example of the variety outside of Burgundy.
With an uncompromising approach to quality in the vineyard, Ata Rangi always deliver a generously flavoured, superbly complex yet beautifully perfumed Pinot Noir. The 2018 vintage of Ata Rangi Pinot Noir has already attracted plenty of attention and our limited stocks are sure to sell out quickly.
The 2018 Ata Rangi Pinot Noir offers a medley of aromas on the nose: tree-ripened plums, mulberry, exotic five spice and liquorice. It has a gorgeous entry, opening smoothly into a full mid-palate. Flavours of rosehip entwine with a fine and savoury tannin structure that persists as an elegant, classic feature of Ata Rangi Pinot Noir.
One of the pioneers of the region, Clive Paton was one of the first to plant grapes on the Martinborough Terrace in 1980 and the winery has since gone on to become a legend of the New Zealand wine industry.
Home of the Gumboot clone of Pinot Noir, a cutting from the vineyards of Domaine de la Romanée Conti allegedly smuggled back into the country by an enterprising Kiwi in a pair of gumboots. In 2010 Ata Rangi was honoured with the 'Tipuranga Teitei o Aotearoa' award; New Zealand's equivalent of Grand Cru status.
Ata Rangi's head wine-maker Helen Masters consistently produces some of the finest 'new-world' Pinot Noir in the world, with Ata Rangi's Martinborough Pinot Noir having developed an international reputation for excellence while their Crimson consistently delivers exceptional value.
In addition to their sublime Pinot Noir, Ata Rangi also produce high quality Cabernets under their 'Celebre' release, with an impressive array of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay also complimenting the red wines of Ata Rangi.
