The 2023 Pertaringa Two Gentlemen's GSM is a blend of Grenache (34%), Shiraz (33%) and Mourvedre (33%) grown on select vineyards throughout McLaren Value. These three varietals combine seamlessly with the Grenache offering fragrant raspberry and cherry notes on the nose. The Shiraz delivers excellent weight and dark plum flavours, while the Mourvedre adds nice perfume and a spicy notes. The result is delicious, medium-bodied wine with plenty of juiciness and flavour, which offers loads of appeal in the short to medium-term.
"A delicious example of the famous Rhône blend done McLaren Vale style. Three parcels from different vineyards across McLaren Vale have been blended after fermentation in small open fermenters, before ten months maturation in older French oak hogsheads. The name refers to the two gentlemen, Ian Leask and Geoff Hardy, who founded Pertaringa. An inky dark maroon hue, the nose gives us notes of black fruits, mocha, coffee beans, cloves and leather with a sweet core of chocolate. This is bold, rich and ripe, with silky tannins and a lingering finish. An excellent McLaren Vale red which will bring joy over the next four to eight years. 93 Points. $32. Drink: 2024 - 2032"- Ken Gargett, winepilot.com.
"It's delightfully fruited and inviting, showing dark plum, sweet cherry, olive, nutmeg and rich floral aromas. The palate delivers excellent weight and plush texture, wonderfully framed by layer of polished tanning, finishing wonderfully long and structured. 94 Points"- Sam Kim, Wine Orbit.
