97 Points - Jeni Port | Very Limited Stocks
Jasper Hill is a highly acclaimed family‑owned and operated winery nestled in Heathcote, central Victoria. Founded in 1982 by Ron and Elva Laughton, it has become a famed name in the region, pioneering low‑impact viticulture on ancient Cambrian soils and earning a reputation for terroir‑driven expressions of Shiraz.
Always one of the standouts in the Jasper Hill range, the Georgia’s Paddock Shiraz is made from dry-grown, low-yielding vines planted in 1975 (with more added in 1987). The grapes are fully destemmed, fermented with natural yeasts, and spend 5-6 weeks on skins before aging for 12 months in French oak. The newly released 2024 is already attracting plenty of high praise and our very limited stocks are sure to sell out fast.
"97 Points. Here is a first-rate lesson on soils and what they contribute to wine. Georgia hails from red, iron-oxide-rich, ancient Cambrian soils that have brought the most astonishing natural balance in '24. The boldness we associate with Georgia is there, but so too a well-delivered fineness of expression that seems to belie the 15.5% abv. The fruit is black and ripe, the spices soar, the oak is well integrated and a ferrous minerality adds a brightness and spark to everything. The tannins are firm but still welcoming, and it just gels so beautifully, so resoundingly. Drink: 2025 - 2042. 15.5% alc. Cork"- Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion.
