94 Points - Ken Gargett
One of the most famous names in South Australia's Coonawarra region, Majella consistently delivers top line examples of Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2022 Majella Cabernet Sauvignon is again in fine form; rich and juicy with plum, blackberry fruits and fruitcake-like flavours all on offer on this complex palate. As ever the finish is long with subtle, soft grainy tannins contributing to the impeccable structure that should see it cellar for many years to come.
"94 Points. The team mature this classic Cabernet for a year and a half in a mix of old and new French oak hogsheads. From an excellent vintage for the region. Inky dark maroon in colour, the nose is a mix of chocolate notes, blackberries, dried leather, cassis, black jellybeans, spices and cocoa powder. There is deft oak integration here. A refined style with focus, drive and elegance, the structure is seamless and we see black coffee notes emerge on the palate. There is serious length here, through to very fine powdery tannins. Enjoy it over the next ten to fifteen years. 14.5% alc. Drink: 2026 - 2041."- Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot.
