Yangarra is a single-vineyard estate situated in Blewitt Springs, at the northern edge of the McLaren Vale region. Yangarra’s combination of ancient geology, high altitude and Mediterranean climate provide the ideal growing conditions for the best grape varieties of the southern Rhône.
The 2024 Yangarra GSM is a blend of 67% Grenache Noir, 17% Shiraz and 16% Mourvèdre. The Grenache is sourced from a combination of young and old bush vines. Yangarra select the most elegant and perfumed Shiraz and add Mourvèdre for fragrance and solid tannin structure. The result is another vibrant, complex McLaren Vale red that has enormous appeal in the short to medium term.
"94 Points. Deep, bright red-purple colour with a floral, rose-petally nose that speaks of the fruit first and foremost. Intensely spicy and red fruited, with little or no oak evident, the palate full-bodied and stately with a good firm spine of tannins. A solid, full-bodied red that drinks beautifully now and will reward many years of ageing, building more detail as it matures. (Blewitt Springs)."- Huon Hooke, The Real Review, 16 October 2025.
"93 Points. 43/34/23% Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvèdre. Curiously, I don’t think I’ve tasted a Yangarra GSM since the 2012 vintage! Dark cherry, raspberry, a bit of a veal stock thing here, but also a fair bit of rosy fragrance. It’s medium-bodied, supple and flavoursome, plump mixed berries, spice, stock and a musky sort of rosewater mouth-perfume, soft but balanced acidity, with a nutty and grainy finish of good length. I know we should not say these things, but gee it’s a lot like a good Côtes du Rhône! It’s delicious. Tasted: Oct25. 14% alc. $35 Screwcap. Drink: 2025 - 2031+"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
