Utilising their vineyard and state-of-the-art winery located in Tuerong, Yabby Lake has established an enviable reputation for producing some of the finest wines on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. Led by the highly credentialed winemaker Tom Carson, Yabby Lake's philosophy is to craft wines that speak of their unique site and are reflective of the season in which they were grown.
This 2023 Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is made from clones MV6 (40%), G5V15 (40%), Abel (12%), 667 (5%) D4V2 (3%) from blocks 1, 2, 5 and 3. This is another beautifully aromatic example with plenty of red fruits - strawberry, raspberry, red currant, coupled with a floral and spicy note. The palate is finely structured, with the finest of tannins running with a line of cherry, wild strawberry and a host of darker fruits. Super silky and exceptionally balanced at this young age, this should deliver plenty of drinking pleasure over the coming 5 to 10 years.
"94 Points. Single vineyard pinot noir from the Mornington Peninsula. I thought this was a bit simple at first but it grew and grew and ended up being anything but. It tastes of peanut shells and black cherries, cloves and assorted sweet spices, with smoky reduction and twiggy herb-chinotto notes also contributing. It’s one of those wines that tightens as it breathes too. In the end this wine’s quality is abundantly clear.
