This 2018 Bellvale Pinot Grigio in an impressive local example that manages to deliver a perfect balance between the acidity and roundness of the traditional Italian style, with refreshing, vibrant stone fruit and pear flavours. This is a subtle and aromatic white wine, smoothly textured with a delicate, clean mouth feel.
"93 Points. Bellvale is a whiz with pinot grigio. A small portion spends time in old oak and the wine benefits significantly. It has that extra punch to the texture, a lifted honeysuckle note, a dense of generosity even as it cuts mouthwateringly through. This release is another goodun’. Ultra dry style. Tasted: Jun20 12% alc. $25 Screwcap Drink: 2020 - 2022"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
"Bellvale fits the old -barely used, let’s face it - Pinot G Scale, perfectly. It literally screams archetypal pinot grigio which, according to the Pinot G Scale created by the Australian Wine Research Institute, is thus: higher acidity, fresh citrus, touch of fruit, pear. They’re all there by degree in the Bellvale pinot grigio which hails from Berrys Creek in South Gippsland. And I’d add preserved lemon and ginger to the mix, which brings a savoury note. There’s a charming light spice, too, and a mineral thread. In fact, it is quite complex for a grigio (which is not meant as an insult) with more intensity than some. Big thumbs up. 92 Points. $25."- Jeni Port, winepilot.com.au.
