The 2022 vintage of Bleasdale The Wild Fig offers a perfect drink-now red proposition; medium-bodied with lifted blueberry fruit, cherry cola and savoury notes on the nose. The palate offers plenty of personality, with the depth of the Shiraz and the juiciness of the Grenache combining to deliver an all-round delicious red wine. With enormous appeal in the short to medium term, this is a crowd-pleasing style that screams value-for-money.
"95 Points. A part-estate, part-grower blend of 67/26/7% shiraz/ grenache/ mourvèdre. The analysis of 13.5% alcohol, 6.1g/L TA and 3.46 pH are an all-up sweet spot for mouthfeel. On skins 12-14 days, matured for 6 months in used puncheons or tank (to retain freshness). Blending at different times for different purposes is part of 'the knowledge.' "This is such an affable wine. So svelte, so juicy, so easy to tuck into. It tastes of forest berries and licorice, dried spice and sweet sawdust, but it’s the jubey, licorice-y aspect that really draws you in. Dangerously drinkable, as they say in the classics. 90 Points.
