97 Points | "
Out-bloody-standing" - Ray Jordan
The red wines of Frankland Estate of Western Australia's Frankland River region are some of the finest cool-climate examples made anyway in Australia, with their Isolation Ridge Syrah a standout. The 2019 is again sublime, offering the impeccable structure, intensity of flavour and balance that has made this so popular. Only very limited stocks of this release are available that are sure to sell out quickly.
"97 Points. This turned out to be a stunning vintage in Frankland and here is ample proof of how good it was. Gorgeous aromas of perfumed satsuma plums and spices on the nose with a hint of dusty limestone. Then the palate delivers with profound and powerful, rich fruit presented with finesse and elegance. This is classically defined Syrah. Out-bloody-standing."- Ray Jordan, The West Australian, May 2021.
"95 Points. Bright, deep purple colour, with a fresh and spicy aroma of cool-grown shiraz, the fruit doing all of the talking. White pepper, blue fruits, violets, dried herbs. The wine is elegant but full-bodied, the tannins tightly coiled and supple, a gloriously aromatic, elegant cool-grown Shiraz"- Huon Hooke, The Real Review, April 2021.
"94 Points. Magnificent example of medium bodied, perfumed, velvety textured red wine where tannin and acidity parlay with just-trip, spice-laden fruit to produce a wine that resonates as a memorable experience. It speaks fluently of Great Southern's righteous Shiraz credentials, elegant, refines, poised, energetic. A wonderful red. 14.5% alc"- Mike Bennie, WBM Magazine, May/ June 2021.
"94 Points. The Isolation Ridge is a perfumed and pretty riot on the nose, all violets, damsons, roses, thyme, blackberries, vanilla, baked quince and pencil shavings. The palate is elegant and refined and from that rollercoaster of prettiness comes a refined fresh-fruit acidity, supple tannins, black coffee, liquorice and that beguiling combination of floral notes in a well structured but not overly weighty Syrah. This is still a baby bundle of juicy and youthful mulberries, raspberries, damsons and plums, showing the beginning of what I expect to be a delicious and ever-changing life. Very smart." - Curly Haslam-Coates, The Wine Front, April 2021.
