96 Points - Jeni Port
Based in the Bendigo region of Central Victoria, Sutton Grange have been making some exceptional examples of Rosé with the recent 2022, 2023 and 2024 vintages being named 'Rosé Of The Year' in the recent Halliday Wine Companions.
Another complex, poised and all-round delicious Rosé, the 2025 Sutton Grange Fairbank Rosé opens with lifted aromatics of raspberries, blood orange, red apples and melon. The palate is textured and layered with plenty of strawberry and raspberry notes, bright acidity and a long, dry finish. A seriously good Australian Rosé that is receiving plenty of well-deserved attention.
"96 Points. A multiple Halliday award winner, and each year it just gets it so right – from the brilliant tea rose and salmon hues, the oh-so pretty spring floral aromas, musk and summer berries that transform into something deeper and more concentrated on the palate. It is very much a layered, complex young rosé, with additional savoury wild herbals and cranberry, and creamy mealy notes, yet it remains a wine filled with crunchy, bright acidity and life. With or without food, it's a star. $35. 13% alc. DrinK; 2026 - 2029"- Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion.
"93 Points. Pale crimson in colour, generously flavoured, ripped with spice and then both juicy and dry through the finish. This is another excellent release from Sutton Grange/ Fairbank. The fruit - cherries, raspberries, some orange notes, some strawberries - comes across as both juicy and jellied, with crushed fennel and cumin notes adding a touch of the exotic. Lovely wine. Tasted: Mar26 13% alc. $35. Screwcap. Drink: 2026 - 2028"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
