97 Points - James Halliday
Yangarra Estate is a biodynamic wine producer based in South Australia's McLaren Vale region. The Yangarra philosophy centres around producing wines solely from its single-vineyard estate and the property is devoted to the best grape varieties of the southern Rhone.
Following in the footsteps of hugely popular recent vintages of this wine, the 2021 Yangarra McLaren Vale Shiraz is another impressive red wine offering. The palate offers plenty of blueberries, dark fruits and dark chocolate flavours with well measured oak and subtle spice. Ready to be enjoyed now this is likely to only improve with a few years in the cellar.
"97 Points. From the Blewitt Springs single-vineyard estate on sand and ironstone soils. It wasn't entirely a surprise that McLaren Vale's first-among-equals winery should have made this gorgeously succulent wine, but I couldn't help but consulting the thesaurus to be sure 'succulent' covered the field. The entry reads: 'juicy, moist, luscious, soft, tender, mouth-watering, appetising, flavoursome, tasty, delicious.' 14% alc. Drink: 2023 - 2051. $35."- James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.
