96 Points - Philip Rich
Bannockburn Vineyards was established by the late Stuart Hooper in 1974; his vision was to create a vineyard which would produce Australian wine of a quality to emulate the great wines of France, in particular top-line Burgundies.
Bannockburn is consistently rated amongst Australia's finest Chardonnays and the 2023 Bannockburn Chardonnay is another faultless, complex Chardonnay. An exceptional release that strikes a mouth-watering balance between fruit weight, tensile acidity and supple texture. Stone fruit flavours are complemented by richer characters and balanced by crystalline freshness, tangy grip and a lengthy, complex finish. Another classic expression of Bannockburn Chardonnay that will please the many fans of this wine.
"96 Points. With its aromas of stone fruits, lemon curd, oyster shells and a touch of fresh ginger root, there's an old-vine creaminess and complexity on the bouquet. The palate is simultaneously powerful yet beautifully delineated, balanced and structured. It's really long, too. Tops. 13.5% alc. RRP $110. Drink: 2033"- Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Magazine, December 2024.
"94+ Points. There’s ample flavour and texture here but the length of this wine is wow. It tastes of grilled peaches, green pineapple, straw, herbs and cedarwood. There’s real flavour here, and a creaminess to the texture, but there’s a real cut to the wine as well. It arguably needs a bit of time to soften. It thrusts its way through the finish, drawing flavour along with it. In 15 year’s time people will be pulling well-cleared bottles of this out and marvelling at how youthful it seems. Tasted: Apr24 13.5% alc. $75. Drink: 2026 - 2035+"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
