95 Points - Jeni Port
Based in Victoria High Country near Mansfield at the foot of Mount Buller, Delatite is well known for producing high quality pristine white wines. The grapes are grown following biodynamic principles which prevents the use of artificial inputs; encouraging greater biodiversity in the vineyard.
This 2024 Delatite Pinot Gris is another beautiful example of this, opening with lifted aromas of stone fruit, apple blossoms and ripe pear. The palate has impressive intensity with layers of ripe pear with some luscious tropical fruit, texture and a hint of spice. Another superb example of Pinot Gris from Delatite that will have plenty of fans.
"95 Points. From the Ritchie family's vineyard at the base of Mt. Buller. Faithful to its usual richly embroidered, intense style with a superb carry of flavour. A cavalcade of cut and stewed apple, pear, peach and ginger, all well-spiced with a sweet, honeyed finish. Expect some scintillating acidity contributing balance and a natural, unforced energy. 13.5% alc. Drink: 2024 - 2031. Screwcap. $30"- Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion.
"I wouldn’t describe this wine as slippery but it does have a textural element, subtle but important, which gives the wine a softness, and something akin to a satiny feel. It has very good intensity of fruit flavour too, and inlays of spice, and a gentle-textural flow of flavour through the finish, the latter of which features a mix of grapefruit and mineral. In essence we’re looking at an excellent wine here, poised and intense. 93 Points. Tasted: Jan25. 13.5% alc. Screwcap Drink: 2025 - 2029"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
