96 Points - Jane Faulkner
Utilising their vineyard and state-of-the-art winery located in Tuerong, Yabby Lake has established an enviable reputation for producing some of the finest wines on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. Led by the highly credentialed winemaker Tom Carson, Yabby Lake's philosophy is to craft wines that speak of their unique site and are reflective of the season in which they were grown.
The 2025 Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is a masterful reflection of the Mornington Peninsula’s cool-climate elegance. This vintage bursts with fragrant aromas of bright red cherry, wild strawberry, and subtle floral lift. The palate is characterised by incredible purity and silkiness, underpinned by fine-grained tannins and a characteristic mineral backbone. It is a precise, sophisticated wine that captures the unique personality of the vineyard with exceptional length and poise.
"96 Points. Tasted soon after bottling, although it’s headed to market quickly, but more time in bottle will help to build depth. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very good. I like it a lot, thanks to its wave of richness, an amalgam of dark cherries, charcuterie, woodsy spices, some blood orange and a whiff of autumn. It's fuller bodied, with more sweet fruit caressing across the palate and meeting up with plush, supple tannins. Refreshing acidity to close."- Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion.
"95 Points. Nice deep, bright red-purple colour; with a powerful dark-cherry aroma, blueberry and spices, the fruit driving the bouquet. The wine is intense and full of flavour, a substantial pinot with serious depth and texture, structure and persistence."- Huon Hooke, The Real Review.
