The project of winemaker Scott Ireland, Provenance Wines set out to make great wines that reveal the fruit quality of special vineyards. Based in the Geelong region, Ireland works with select vineyard sites west and south of Melbourne, to deliver an impressive range of wines.
The 2023 Provenance Golden Plains Pinot Noir is blended from across six vineyards located on the Golden Plains that run west from Melbourne; 32% from the two Scotsburn vineyards at 500m elevation, 57% from three sites in Geelong’s Moorabool Valley and the Bellarine Peninsula. The final 11% was grown at Drumborg part of the far south-west Victorian region of Henty.
Beautifully perfumed with fresh fruit aromas of black cherry and spice that are supported by an earthy, forest floor like bouquet. True to its bouquet, the fresh fruit-sweet character of this wine is matched to a supple, rich palate weight, textbook Pinot Noir. Long in flavour, the finish is supported by bright natural acid and graphite-like tannin.
