New Vintage
Rusden is one of the most respected names in the Barossa Valley, which has built up a huge following in a relatively short period of time. Focussing on traditional Barossa varieties and blends, the limited production wines are quickly snapped up with each release.
This 2022 Rusden Driftsand GSM is another fantastic value Barossa blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro. A medium-bodied, juicy, flavoursome Barossa red wine brimming with raspberry, cherry cola, and maraschino cherry flavours. Gentle spice and a subtle hint of oak round out a superb value Barossa red that provides plenty of enjoyment in the short to medium term.
"Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro. Note: this was last reviewed on TWF in 2015 (2012 vintage) and went up in price by $2 in 10 years, which is unusual in today’s world and a bargain if not a steal (for what it is, of course). Shh… Ripe fruit, glossy black cherry, mulberry, panforte, Kopiko, a mix of dark salt with dark sugar in the aromas - burnt juicy edge on a blackberry tart…(a good thing!) But given the fruit is ripe and dark, it sits at medium weight with slippery texture. You’ll find bitter herbs and woody spice here a la dark amaro plus generous fruit ripeness. Flavour is here, character is here, value is here. Nice one! 92 Points Tasted: Sep24. 14.2% alc. $22 Cork Drink: 2024 - 2028"- Kasia Sobiesiak, The Wine Front.
