New Release
Paul Osicka is the longest standing wine producer in the Heathcote wine region with the original Shiraz vines planted over 55 years ago. The wines are made and bottled by Simon Osicka; the 3rd generation involved in the winery. The annual release of Paul Osicka Heathcote Shiraz is always highly anticipated with the limited stocks snapped up quickly.
The 2022 Paul Osicka Majors Creek Shiraz is another flavoursome, medium-bodied Heathcote Shiraz, with excellent spice, savouriness and lashings of dark cherry, plum and subtle tannin, all working in perfect harmony with each other. Another super Shiraz that will please the many Paul Osicka fans.
"The 2022 release reds from the Osicka family have a plushness and accessibility – this shiraz deeply concentrated as a reflection of judicious grape growing in this unique spot, though perhaps missing some of the tension and tannin profile that Osicka wines so often reveal. That being said, such a gorgeous and pleasurable red in its more loose knit and overtly ripe spectrum. It’s ripe plum and forest berry compote with aniseed, choc-mint biscuit, soft salted liquorice and touches of dried cranberry, figs and hazelnut. Lush and lovely in the palate, very soft and supple, a lick of shapely tannin in a velvety rub across the wine, a long trail of sweet spice and that compote richness lingers if not stains the palate. Come hither stuff. Done well, balanced well, just a bit more XL than expected. 93 Points. Tasted: MAY24 14.5% alc. $45 Screwcap Drink: 2024 - 2033"- Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.
