"A classic"- Dave Brookes
A long time favourite of ours, Torbreck's 'Cuvee Juveniles' consistently delivers an outstanding example of the approachable, unoaked blend of Barossa's hero varietals, namely Grenache and Mataro.
The 2023 Torbreck Cuvee Juveniles is made up of 48% Grenache, 28% Mataro, 13% Carignan, 6% Counoise and 5% Shiraz from an array of vineyards ranging up to 150 years old. A floral, lifted red wine the palate showcases juicy red fruit flavours; red cherry, pomegranate and red currant. Medium-bodied with lively acidity and a subtle depth, this is an all-round delicious drinking red wine that's ready to go now.
"94 Points. A blend of 48/28/13/6/5% grenache/ mataro/ carignan/ counoise/ shiraz from vineyards in Lyndoch, Gomersal, Seppeltsfield, Marananga and Greenock. I guess this is the wine that started it all. It's a Côtes du Rhône blend, sharply priced, with a connection to a famous Parisian wine bar; a juicy plum and spice-forward wine that is a joy to drink. Light on the artefact and high in effortless drinkability, finishing stony, spicy, meaty and moreish. A classic. $29. 15% alc. Drink: 2025 - 2035. Screwcap"- Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion.
