95 Points - Gary Walsh
One of Australia’s most talented and celebrated winemakers, Luke Lambert consistently produces a stunning array of Yarra Valley wines. With a minimal-intervention style, Lambert believes the personality of the wine should be dictated by its place.
We recently welcomed the highly anticipated 2023 Lambert Yarra Valley Syrah, which has proved enormously popular over the past month. A cool-climate red that will only enhance the sizeable reputation of this wine, this 2023 vintage is a product of a cooler season; allowing it to achieve a greater depth, detail and the spice that Lambert strives for in his Syrah. Made using all the care and attention this winery is known for, this is a beautifully perfumed, expressive and all-round delicious Yarra Valley Syrah that offers top-line drinking.
“Beautifully poised, cool expression of shiraz with concentrated but elegant dark cherry fruit and a subtle overlay of spice. A very good follow-up to the excellent 2022, which is drinking beautifully now. $55”- Max Allen, The Financial Review.
"95 Points. 80% whole bunch, and in 2023, picked a month later than the 2022. Dark cherry and blue fruits, plenty of spice, black olive and grilled meat. It’s medium-bodied, spicy and perfumed, meaty too, with a surprisingly intense burst of ‘minerally’ acidity through its core. Tannin is all crushed rock and sooty goodness, and the finish is long and savoury and stalky. Very good. 13.5% alc. $55. Diam. Drink: 2024 - 2031+."- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
