94+ Points - Andrew Caillard
One of Australia's most talented and awarded winemakers, Tim Smith is focused on making benchmark examples of the Barossa's time proven varietals.
Tim Smith's Barossa Shiraz has become one of our favourites and clearly we're not the only big fans of it. Anything up to 12 vineyards go into this wine; with it typically a blend of 50:50 Barossa and Eden Valleys. This 2022 Tim Smith Barossa Shiraz is another lovely rendition of Barossa Shiraz that will appeal to the many fans of this wine.
"94+ Points. Deep crimson. Classical choco-berry aromas with panforte notes. Richly flavoured wine with ample dark chocolate, dark berry fruits, plentiful chocolatey tannins and marzipan/ cedarwood/touch bourbon new oak notes. Finishes chocolatey firm with a spike of aniseed. Very likeable punter’s wine, rather than a critic’s choice. Drink now or keep, as the elements might fold and integrate further. Drink 2024–2028.”- Andrew Caillard, The Vintage Journal.
"This is full, rich, svelte and satisfying. It’s a mouthful of wine delivered in soft, warm style. Ripe plums, musk, vanilla, blackberry and clove flavours come edged with peppermint and saltbush. There’s genuine power on offer here. 93 Points. Tasted: Oct24 14.5% alc. $45. Screwcap. Drink: 2024 - 2030+"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
