95 Points - Tyson Stelzer
Turkey Flat Shiraz comfortably sits among the top bracket of Barossa Valley Shiraz and still sells for a fraction of the price of many other highly regarded examples. Owned by the Schultz family since 1870, Turkey Flat continue to be proud custodians of some of the world's oldest Shiraz vines (planted in 1847).
The 2021 Turkey Flat Shiraz represents the 32nd release of Turkey Flat Shiraz, which again delivers another generous example of the popular Barossa style. This is loaded with plenty of blackberry, boysenberry and dark chocolate flavours, which are supported by subtle toasty oak. Another impressive rendition of Barossa Shiraz that will only strengthen the reputation of this iconic producer.
"95 Points. Each parcel of fruit is individually vinified and aged in French oak barrels. The cool 2021 vintage has put a new spring in the step of Turkey Flat Shiraz, providing spicy lift and tang to the deep black fruits of grand old vines dating from 1847. Mineral-fine tannins are propelled by vibrant acidity to considerable persistence and compelling longevity. One of the greats. Drink 2031 - 2046. $55. Screw Cap. 14.5% alcohol"- Tyson Stelzer, Top 250 Wines Of 2024.
