Jim Barry's Watervale Riesling has firmly established itself as one of Australia's best value and most popular Rieslings. Crafted from a special part of the Florita vineyard in the tiny village of Watervale; a region renowned for the quality of its Riesling.
Representing the 51st consecutive vintage release of this wine, the 2024 Jim Barry Watervale Riesling opens with the classic aromatics of zesty lime / lemon and jasmine florals notes leaping from the glass. The palate is spritely and energetic, with generous lime, lemon and white peach flesh flavours. A wine of impressive vibrancy and length, this offers exceptional value-for-money at this limited time discounted price.
"This is a world class riesling at a better-than-fair price. Indeed this wine is so good and so reasonably priced on such a regular basis that it was described on The Winefront site as “a national treasure”. It was also described there as “frisky and delicious”. It’s a dry riesling with a distinct juiciness to the lemon-and-lime fruit flavour and edges of lemongrass and steel. Basically it’s Clare Valley riesling on a platter and would be the perfect go-to refreshing white wine for this coming summer."- Campbell Mattinson, campbellmattinson.com.
"This seems to be a very good JB Riesling. Lemongrass, lime leaf, lime, a bit floral and spicy, with a distinct gin and tonic bite and some bathtime fun perfume. It has a powdery texture, a crisp and lively character, blackcurrant and lavender, and pretty bloody good length. Maybe there’s a little bit of ruggedness to it, but gee, it’s frisky and delicious.
