98 Points - Winestate Magazine | RRP $30
Produced by the renowned Bec Hardy Wines, the wines under the Pertaringa label continue to deliver some outstanding examples of South Australia's hero varietals. The 2023 Pertaringa Two Gentlemen's GSM is a blend of Grenache (34%), Shiraz (33%) and Mourvedre (33%), grown on select vineyards throughout McLaren Value.
Here three varietals combine seamlessly with the Grenache offering fragrant raspberry and cherry notes on the nose. The Shiraz delivers weight and dark plum flavours, while the Mourvedre adds nice perfume and spicy notes. The result is juicy, medium-bodied example of this GSM blend that offers loads of appeal in the short to medium-term. With an RRP of $25, we're currently offering limited stocks at this discounted price.
"98 Points. A luscious deep purple wine with an intensity of minty fruit fragrances and rich inky blackberry flavours with plenty of acid to balance and nice fleshy tannins."- Winestate Magazine, March / April 2023.
"The two gentlemen in this case are Geoff Hardy and Ian Leask, the co-founders of Pertaringa. This wine benefits from a superb vintage for the McLaren Vale region. It spends a year in two-year-old French oak and the colour is a deep magenta. Delightfully perfumed with notes of blackberries, cloves, spices, chocolate and leather. The dark berries continued on to the palate, which is rich and plush. With a supple texture, excellent length and good concentration, this is a well-balanced and delicious red to drink now for five to eight years. Lots to love here. 93 Points. Drink: 2022 - 2030"- Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot.
