As one of Margaret River's most highly acclaimed wineries, the wines of Voyager Estate rarely fail to impress. The Vivid Red is a brand-new wine in the Voyager stable; a light red blend that gives a nod to winemaker Tim Shand’s time spent in the Yarra Valley as chief winemaker for Punt Road.
The 2024 Voyager Vivid Red is another delicious blend of Shiraz, Tempranillo, Grenache and Merlot. A wine made in a fresh, early-drinking style, this is an aromatic offering with intense red fruit, earth, graphite and aniseed on the nose. The palate offers, layers of juicy fruit, bold, wild brambly fruit and some soft, velvety tannin.
"A blend of shiraz, grenache, tempranillo and merlot, largely whole-bunch fermentation and left on skins for two weeks; as it’s PF (preservative free) there's no added SO2. And vivid red indeed, the colour a gorgeous dark purple shot with red. It’s vibrant and juicy – full of dark fruits and spices – yet savoury, with some charcuterie reduction done nicely, ironstone, too. The palate is lighter framed but not wimpy, tangy with lithe tannins and bright acidity. Chill it down in summer or enjoy as is any other time. Love it. 93 Points. 13% alc. "I enjoy it when Voyager Estate releases well-made, cheeky, fun wines. I also like Voyager, with relatively new Head Winemaker Tim Shand at the helm. Blueberries, furry plum skins, clove, and lavender - the vivid red blend is generous, juicy, crunchy, vibrant, and feisty. Serve chilled and with kangaroo fillets, or as a pre-dinner aperitif. This wine is intentionally built for brightness and bottled for youth - drink it now and do not hold. 93 Points. $32. Drink: 2025 - 2027"- Cyndal Petty, winepilot.com.
