Curly Flat has been one of our long-time favourite Australian Pinot Noirs and we've keenly observed the reputation of this Macedon Ranges winery continue to soar. The 2021 vintage marks the 24th vintage of Curly Flat Pinot Noir.
The 2021 Curly Flat Pinot Noir consists of eleven separate lots representing distinct aspects, clones and soils. Each of these parcels combine to form a complex Pinot Noir with fragrant spices and a red fruit lift that seamlessly merges with darker fruits and more savoury complexities. A wonderful Curly Flat Pinot Noir, our very limited stocks are sure to go quickly.
"94+ Points. Most of the better Macedon Ranges pinot noirs are ever-so surly in their youth. This one too. The fruit here is backward, in a good way. It tastes of red cherry and plum with an earthen, sweet-sour edge, though bunches of twig, juniper and general herb notes are at play too, if in an integrated way. Complexity, it certainly has covered. There’s excellent tannin here, a solid-if-fine-grained frame, though it’s not delivered at the expense of flow. This moves along in a brooding, thoughtful way, as if concerned about its future, not that it needs to be. Everything, for this wine, in time, will be just fine. Tasted: Jun23 13.7% alc. Screwcap Drink: 2026 - 2033+"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
