The 2023 Riposte 'The Cutlass' Shiraz is a single-vineyard Adelaide Hills Shiraz crafted from grapes grown at a vineyard located at Woodside. Opening with classic Adelaide Hills perfumed aromatics with a touch of pepper and spice, the elegant yet generous palate offers plenty of raspberry, blue fruits, plum and milk chocolate notes. A beautifully structured cool-climate Shiraz with a silky mouthfeel and mouth-watering acidity, this is sensational value at this discounted price.

In other words, it’s not all one and the same. This has a definite cool climate, colder season stamp, with a wonderful, bright-eyed character, aromatics of summer berry pudding, crushed grape flesh, and dark mint. An exuberance as well: perhaps whole cluster and whole berry components. A tasting sensation that lifts upwards rather than buries the fruit under timber, earth and heavy spice. "This is a very attractive wine. It flashes herb and spice notes at you, has a good run of fleshy cherry-plum fruit, and carries enough saucy oak to give it a plushness. For all this it remains easy-going and just plain - deliciously - drinkable.
