95 Points - Jeni Port
With Shiraz and Riesling being the hero varietals of Best's Great Western, their Cabernet Sauvignon can easily be overlooked. Best's Cabernet regularly delivers one of the finest cool-climate Cabernets in Australia and is a relative bargain given the impeccable pedigree of this wine.
This 2020 Best's Cabernet Sauvignon offers plenty of typical aromas of cassis and blackcurrant that are intertwined with notes of thyme, nutmeg and fresh tobacco leaf. The palate is packed with rich briary fruit flavours, with the fine geometry supple tannins and balancing acidity to give a long finish. A delicious red in its youth, this will undoubtedly cellar beautifully for the next decade.
"95 Points. Delivers a nuanced interpretation of the grape, proving once again that cabernet is right at home in the Grampians. Briar, bush mint, bay leaf, bracken and earth here, a dollop of vanillin oak and concentrated black fruits there, with taut tannins laying the groundwork for a long, brilliant future. 14% alc. Drink by 2035. Screwcap"- Jeni Port, winecompanion.com.au.
