95 Points - Gary Walsh | Very Limited Stock
Holyman is the flagship label of the Stoney Rise winery in the heart of the Tamar Valley. Stoney Rise is owned and operated by Joe and Lou Holyman who are building a reputation for making some of Tasmania's best Pinots.
The 2024 Holyman Pinot Noir is another top-line example of Tassie Pinot Noir produced from 100% estate-grown grapes planted in 1986. Red cherries and spicy oak on the nose with some cassis and forest floor showing on the palate. The tannins are initially quite subtle but build in the mouth. The usual structure and mouthfeel back this up and help to give the wine its long finish.
“95 Points. Cherry, dark raspberry, mint and earth, a spicy cinnamon and floral perfume too. It’s medium-bodied, well-etched with fine but firm tannin, quite ‘minerally’ too, an Earl Grey tea and floral mouth-perfume, crisp yet strict on a finish of excellent length. Oak shows a bit at present, though it won’t later. Very good. Tasted: Oct25. 12% alc. $65 Screwcap Drink: 2026 - 2035+"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
