95 Points - Jane Faulkner
Port Phillip Estate 'Salasso' Rose has established itself as one of Australia's leading examples of Rose. The 2021 Port Phillip Estate Salasso Rosé has been made from Pinot Noir and Shiraz grapes grown at their Mornington Peninsula vineyards.
An attractive salmon-pink colour, the nose offers notes of strawberry and orange peel together with a peppery spiciness. Long and linear with a subtle creaminess, the palate delivers flavours of cranberry ripe brambleberry. Refreshingly moreish, this is a balanced, poised, savoury wine that carries a load more class than your average Aussie Rosé.
"95 Points. A light and enticing copper hue. When slightly chilled, this rosé means summer in a glass. Really lovely aromatics; all florals and red berries, quite spicy too. Starts fruit-sweet on the palate then savouriness takes over all the way to a dry, fresh finish. Excellent rosé in anyone’s book. $27. Drink by: 2023. 13% alc." - Jane Faulkner, winecompanion.com.au.
"92 Points. It has the most gorgeous copper hue and while it’s distinctly savoury around the edges it’s also deliciously refreshing in a fruit-driven way. Redcurrant and strawberry with earth, vanilla cream, orange blossom and dried herb highlights. It’s a delightful wine to drink: tart, fruity, savoury, energetic and precise, all at once. Tasted: Oct21 13% alc. $27 Screwcap Drink: 2022 - 2023" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
