96 Points - James Halliday
Established in 1982, Scotchmans Hill is located in the heart of the Bellarine Peninsula and has long been regarded as one of the region's premier producers. Scotchmans Hill Pinot Noir has a reputation of consistently delivering one of Victoria's finest Pinot Noirs and the 2020 vintage is again in ripping form.
The 2020 Scotchmans Hill Pinot Noir opens with perfumed aromatics of dark cherries, plums and a nice touch of spice. The palate is well weighted and complex with dense flavours of red plums, cherries and spice. This flows through to a sappy and earthy mid palate, with a long, complex finish complimented by well measured oak. Another high quality Bellarine Pinot Noir from Scotchmans Hill that is well deserving of the high praise it's already received.
"96 Points. 85/15% whole berries/bunches; 12-day cold soak, wild ferment; matured 12 months in new and used French oak. Bright colour sets the tone for a deliciously scented bouquet of cherry blossom, wafts of red berry fruits and gentle but persistent spices. The palate is lively and juicy, the aftertaste fresh. 13% alc. Drink by 2030. $42. Screwcap"- James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.
