96 Points - Erin Larkin
Margaret River's Voyager Estate has firmly established itself as one of Australia's leading exponents of Cabernet Sauvignon. This exceptional 2017 Voyager Estate Cabernet Sauvignon release comes from hand-harvested parcels of fruit from Voyager Estate's very best vineyard blocks.
These two vineyards display exceptional consistency from season to season and showcase clear vineyard site expression, producing Cabernet with great intensity and individuality. This Cabernet was blended with a small portion of Merlot and Petit Verdot; the Merlot contributes flesh and earthiness to the mid palate whilst the Petit Verdot adds great aromatics with violet nuances - the result is a Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon of the highest order.
"96 Points. Mainly a blend of 2 vineyards: Block 12 and Old Block, with a small parcel of Weightmans Block 5. Vinified separately, matured in oak for 18 months. Having stood in all 3 source vineyards, each component is clear in this wine: density from the Old Block, suppleness from the Block 12 and red fruits and brine from the Weightmans Block. Savoury, long, fine-knit and of supreme elegance. It's not intense cabernet, but it is persistent and very long. Screw cap. 14% alc. To 2041. $85."- Erin Larkin, Halliday Wine Companion 2022.
