96 Points | "Top of the class" - Jane Faulkner
Over the past decade Yabby Lake has built a reputation for producing some of the finest cool-climate wines made on the Mornington Peninsula. Led by the highly credentialed winemaker Tom Carson, Yabby Lake's philosophy is to craft wines that speak of their site and their season in which they were grown.
This 2019 Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Syrah is another beautifully perfumed and spicy Syrah, medium-bodied in style. The palate is concentrated and silky, with finely structured tannins, bright fruit characters, wonderful elegance and depth. Stored carefully, this wine will age gracefully for ten years.
"96 Points. Aside from the striking deep garnet hue that immediately beckons, this starts out a bit shy. Let it be. Let it breathe. It will then unfurl to reveal a savoury, refined wine. Dark fruit, a dusting of pepper and licorice, mocha, warm earth and Aussie bush aromas. It works off a medium-bodied palate with the most exquisite tannins. Top of the class. Screwcap. To 2032. $36."- Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2021.
